Between the islands of Geyser Rock and Dyer Island is a narrow and shallow channel called Shark Alley – reputed to be the world’s best place for Great White shark cage diving. Due to the resident seal colonies in the area, Shark Alley has been dubbed “the supermarket for sharks”.

You will be picked up from your hotel in Cape Town at around 4:40 am and transferred to Gansbaai, 2 hours away.

A short boat ride from Gansbaai, Shark Alley is ideal for those who wish to experience the thrill of getting up close and personal with these giant predators, but who do not possess a dive certification. Your cage dive takes place just meters below the surface of the water so no diving experience is necessary.

Explore Hermanus, which is situated on a narrow coastal plain surrounding Walker Bay, nestled between an incandescent mountain range and the spectacular Atlantic Ocean. It was voted Town of the Year in the Western Cape in 2008 and is also "famous" for its clean "champagne air", pristine Blue Flag beaches and charming village shops and crafts. This area is also considered the "Whale Capital of the World". Hermanus provides the best land-based whale watching spot in the world and the intelligent gentle Southern Right Whales, as large as 10 elephants, can be seen up to 20 meters from the rocky shores, but only during whale season which stretches from July to November each year.

Fernkloof Nature Reserve is situated in the Kleinriver Mountains above Hermanus with over 1600 different plant species. There is no other place on earth where so many different species can be seen growing in such close proximity.

Return to Cape Town via scenic Clarence Drive, considered one of the top 10 scenic drives in the world. It hugs the False Bay coastline and its magnificent sea cliffs on the one side, and is snug against the majestic mountain slopes on the other, passing the quaint coastal villages of Rooi Els and Betty's Bay. Look out for more whales along the South Coast Whale Route as we return to Cape Town.
